I am directed by His Excellency the Governor to signify to you that your dismissal from the service of this Government is proposed on the following grounds That you, Badan Singh, an officer in the Junior Clerical Service of the Hong Kong Government, having

on the 26th January, 1932, transmitted a quotation for passages obtainable through Messrs. Thos. Cook & Son, Ltd., to the Director of Public Works (the Head of your department) and applied for a refund by the Government of three passages, namely, one passage for your wife and two passages for your children from and between Hong Kong and Farid Kot, via Calcutta, and having on the 5th February, 1932, paid Messrs. Thos. Cook and Son. Ltd. $560 in respect of such one passage and given such company a postdated cheque for $1200. and obtained a receipt for $1760. for three passages, and having produced such receipt as evidence of payment, to the Superintendent of Accounts and Stores, Public Works Department, and having consequent- ly and on the 11th March, 1932, obtained from the Government, through your said Department, a che que for $1438.89 as the Government's proportion of the cost of such three passages, of which sum of $1238.89 the sum of $847.26 was in respect of such two passages

for your children, and having on or about the 17th March, 1932, cashed and received the proceeds of the said cheque for $1438.89, and having on the 11th May, 1932, recovered your said cheque from the said company,
